Most will agree that personal development begins at home... Mom had some unique ways of teaching us. After one of her afternoon coffee sessions with the ladies from upstairs, she noticed that one had left her cigarettes on the table. Without hesitation, she invited me (10 or 11 at the time) to try smoking. I blew on the thing, gagged and have never since had the inclination to pick up a cigarette. (Previous to that, we occasionally lit twigs from the big shrub not far from the school fence: Mom must have seen me practising "cool" and decided to do something about it.) |
