World History

Home Insurance is a crucial element of home ownership. Your mortgage company will be named on the policy because they may, in fact, have a bigger stake in the integrity of your home than you. Your Insurance Broker will ensure that the insurance policy is effective on the date of closing.

Some of the risks that are often covered by home insurance are vandalism, theft of personal property, fire, water escape, legal liability, voluntary medical payments and natural disasters.

Some of the factors in setting the premium and coverage for home insurance are:

  • number of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors
  • finished or unfinished basement
  • attached garage
  • type of locks
  • distance to nearest fire hydrant
  • fireplace
  • security system
  • size of the home
  • any other unusual valuables and features
