World History

In this issue I'd like to highlight this participant in Scarboro Fare Fair 1994 -- Agincourt Community Services / Information Scarborough.

Agincourt Community Services Association is a non-profit organization that works with many local groups including churches and schools to improve the quality of life in the community.  Information and referral, an income tax clinic, legal counselling, emergency transportation and a Housing Help Centre are among the many free and confidential services provided.

And why was Agincourt Community Services Association so interested in Scarboro Fare Fair 1994? ACSA wanted to promote their Food Alternatives Program, the objectives of which are to:

  • expand local food database and make a food hot line available to Scarborough residents
  • increase awareness of alternatives among emergency food recipients
  • develop practical possibilities for food recipients to buy in bulk
  • develop the linking of food bank recipients and the local community around alternative methods of helping low income residents

If you missed the ACSA display at Scarboro Fare Fair, give them a call at 321-6912.

Who should you call when you don't know who to call about:

  • assistance for immigrants
  • community agencies
  • counselling and self-help
  • daycare and babysitting
  • education
  • home support services
  • seniors services
  • volunteering and donations
  • and many other valuable community services
